Pager Information
Starting in January 2001, SAR members are required to buy a special Metrocall SAR pager. These pagers are required if you want to be called out on a search.
No pager? You won't be called out.
These pagers are special because they have a SAR group number for callouts. That is, by dialing one phone number, the coordinator can page every SAR member. And of course they have individual numbers for your personal use. Also, they operate on a lower-than-usual frequency (462 Mhz), which works better in our mountainous terrain. Metrocall has installed extra transmitters around the County for greater coverage.
Deputy Scott Stewart has worked out a special SAR deal. You can buy a numeric pager for $34.95. Airtime costs $4.63 a month for up to 250 calls. Metrocall will send you a monthly bill.
