First Responder Class From Sept 1999 Lost & Found Newsletter Basic Requirements. You must have a current CPR "C" card to be certified or renew your certification as a First Responder. A student can only miss four (4) hours of the class. Students can expect to spend 40 to 80 hours outside of the class studying. Study groups are recommended for both the didactic and skills portion of the class. A 75% average on all quizzes must be maintained to take the final. The minimum passing score on the final is 80%. Students should have a watch that shows seconds. A personal stethoscope is recommended. You must provide a copy of your CPR card and drivers license to the instructor on the last day of class.
