Two Teen Girls
November 2005
On May 17, 2005, two lost female teenagers were found alive and well. Ashley and Chelsey were lost at night in the Crystal Boulevard vicinity of El Dorado. The command post was set up at the fire station. Teams were out all night searching hills and local ranches. Girls heard SAR teams calling but were unable to shout back for unknown reasons. I believe they were spotted by a helicopter the following morning by Paul D., Terry O., Kate Z., Milena H. and others.
These two went missing when they left several friends at a ranch and became disoriented. SAR members were called out in the late evening to find the two in the drizzling rain. Search teams were out all night and into the early morning. I had been assigned as the SAR family liaison and spent the entire night with the family as many volunteers combed the ranch. The two were found as soon as the sun was up and the skies cleared for the helicopter. The two were less than a mile from the "Place Last Seen". Search teams had been in their vicinity all night but were not contacted by the teenagers. The two were cold and wet but otherwise unharmed.
